Premier Film Event: Swift Justice

Co-sponsored by LWVD and Denver Film Society

Thursday, March 18, 6:00 p.m. Reception, 7:00 p.m. Film, 8:00 p.m. Discussion
Starz FilmCenter, Studio A, 900 Auraria Parkway

The documentary Swift Justice will be shown at 7:00 p.m. and immediately followed by a discussion led by two prominent attorneys from The American Immigration Lawyers Association, Christina Fiflis and Ann Allott. Director Julie Speer Hunniford will also be present.

This film explores the context and ramifications of the raids on the Swift meat-packing plant in Greeley and six other locations nationwide in 2006. The debate about the place of undocumented workers in the United States and their relationship with their employers is captured through interviews with people on both sides of the issue, from the impact on families coping with legal troubles and sudden loss of income to questions about current immigration statutes.

LWVD is hosting a reception from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
