 | LWVD Advocates for Rank Choice Voting
In March 2025, at the request of LWVCO Executive Director Beth Hendricks, the LWVD joined a consortium of Denver civic and non-profit organizations to approach the Denver City Council to consider changing the process of municipal elections to a Ranked-Choice Voting model. Susan Stark, Director of Program, and Patty Cordova, who worked on our RCV resolution approved in 2020, along with Beth Hendricks and Toni Larson from LWV Colorado, began attending meetings of this consortium, led by Landon Mascarenez to develop a plan to approach the City Council with this proposal. In April, LWVD sent a letter to the City Council from the LWVD Board along with letters from the other organizations asking the council members to work toward implementing RCV for municipal elections. This group will continue to meet through the summer.
This press release, written by Aly Belknap of Common Cause, went out today and the coalition's activity was covered on Denver's Channel 7. Here is a link to that televised piece: https://www.denver7.com/news/front-range/denver/colorado-group-calls-for-ranked-choice-voting-in-future-elections

Amaryllis and Paperwhite Bulb Sale! Now through June 30!
Support our Denver League through our Amaryllis and Paperwhite Bulb Sale!
How can we do this? We can buy bulbs for ourselves and we also need to be bulb sellers!
Tips for great – and relatively easy - bulb selling:
- Send the Bulb Sale Flyer to people on your email group lists.
- Include a personal message
- Talk about why you value the League (see sample paragraph below).
- Mention that 10 beautiful Amaryllis varieties are available and that the sale ends June 30.
- Note that a $12 Planting Kit is available.
Here’s a paragraph you can use/adapt followed by a link to the Bulb Sale Flyer:
I’m a proud member of the League of Women Voters of Denver. I’m a member because I value Democracy and the League’s ongoing work to Make Democracy Work. For me, and for many in our community, the League is our “go to” organization for non-partisan information about voting, education about issues, and advocacy based on our thoroughly researched positions. We need to be sure the League can continue to be a strong voice in preserving and strengthening our Democracy.
I hope you can join me in supporting the League of Women Voters of Denver by purchasing – and giving as gifts - beautiful Amaryllis and Paperwhite bulbs. Thank you!
