New Member Orientation
Tuesday, March 17, 4:30 p.m.
Come a little early to the March Briefing and learn more about our mission, activities, and ways to get involved. This is a great opportunity to meet fellow members, learn about our advocacy efforts, voter education initiatives, and how you can make an impact. Whether you're new to the League or just looking for a refresher, we’d love to see you there! We look forward to welcoming you and sharing how we can work together to empower voters and strengthen democracy.
Jeanette Scotland, Director of Organization | Take Action - Oppose the SAVE Act Suite of Bills
Use this link to send this letter to your Senators:
As your constituent, I implore you to oppose all efforts to require citizenship documentation to register and vote, including the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, the SAVE America Act, and the Make Elections Great Again Act. Voters in every state are already required to affirm or verify their citizenship status when registering.
It is already illegal for non-citizens to vote in federal elections. Additionally, state election officials ban non-citizen voting in all state elections and have systems to verify an individual voter's eligibility and ensure that voter rolls are accurate. The bill's requirement of a document to prove American citizenship to register to vote in federal elections is unnecessary and creates yet another barrier to voting.
Please oppose the SAVE America Act to ensure that every eligible US citizen has the freedom to vote unimpeded by discriminatory rules rooted in fear and division.
